This Week in MoCo Pickleball · Week of June 12, 2026
Your DUPR number moved this week — quietly, while you slept. Before you panic or gloat, read what the Reset actually did.

🔥 The lead
The DUPR Reset results are live — and your number probably moved.
After two-plus months and roughly 400,000 recorded matches, DUPR's big recalibration landed in the app over the past week. If you're anywhere from 3.0 to 4.5 — which is most of MoCo — your rating likely shifted, and some of you dropped a few points without losing a single game. That's not a bug. The Reset re-scaled how the whole system reads results; it didn't decide you got worse overnight.
Here's what matters for you: a number that moved is not a verdict on your game. The players who'll have a great summer are the ones who glance at the new number, shrug, and go get better reps. (We never touch or display anyone's DUPR data here — this is just the public news, explained.)

📍 MoCo pulse
Direct MoCo news this week: None crossed the wire — seven straight days of feed-scanning, no court votes, no facility openers, no rec-league bulletins out of Montgomery County. Quiet weeks here are usually good news: the courts are full and nobody's fighting about them. If something's moving on your courts that we missed, reply — that's how this section gets sharper.
Regional / DMV-adjacent:
- A real paddle shop with demo inventory is now open 30 minutes away in Arlington Courthouse — a tennis-and-pickleball retailer you can actually swing before you buy. If you've been about to drop $250–$300 on a paddle off a YouTube review, this is the move: go swing three of them first. Plan the trip on a non-rush-hour window and you'll save yourself a returns headache. Read the coverage →
- Arlington's new Walter Reed pickleball complex is now open — a fresh DMV venue worth a visit if you're down that way. Nice courts. Worth saying plainly, though: MoCo already out-densities most of the region on free public courts, and ours don't come with a noise war attached. Use it as one more option, not a reason to leave the county. Read the coverage →

🎯 Coach's Take of the week
Your DUPR moved. Now what? The honest answer nobody selling you a paddle will say: do almost nothing about the number, and everything about your reps. The Reset recalibrated a scale — it didn't change the shot that's actually leaking your points. Chasing a number makes you play scared and protect your rating in rec games, which is exactly how you stop improving. Pick the one shot you trust least, drill it for two weeks, and let the number catch up to the player. I wrote up how to read your new rating without letting it run your summer.

💪 Drill of the Week
The One-Skill Warm-Up — fixes the "I warmed up by dinking for five minutes, then played flat for an hour" problem in 15 minutes. Before your next open play, pick ONE skill — resets, third-shot drops, backhand dinks — and drill only that, focused, before you let yourself play a single game. Everybody skips this, and it's the cheapest win on the court. Solo against a wall or with one partner at Bauer Drive.
🏆 Pro Tour storyline
Major League Pickleball ran Stop #3 at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis the weekend of June 4–7 — team format, fresh matchups all four days. If you watched any of it, watch one thing on the replays: how the top teams reset under pressure. Amateurs chase the winner; the pros calmly take the heat off and win the rally three balls later. It's the exact skill behind this week's warm-up — just played at 5.5+. The Dink's event coverage →

A rating reset is a perfect reminder of what we're actually building here. Numbers come and go; the community is the part that lasts — and the core community is free forever, no take rate, no premium tier on the things that matter. If you already run a regular game, organize a group chat, or want to, that's exactly what Coach Up is for: member organizers earn cash, free play, and a path toward certification for building community around them.
