Rotating partner

Rotating partner, 7 players

7 players · 2 courts · 7 rounds

How it runs

Rotating-partner round robin: you get a new partner every round and score for yourself, not your pair. 7 players, 7 rounds on 2 courts: each round one doubles game and one singles game while one player rests. You play six games, four doubles with four different partners and two singles, and sit out exactly one round. Games to 11, win by 2. The top 4 records advance and the organizer pairs them into two teams for one championship game to 15, win by 2: by default 1st and 4th against 2nd and 3rd. Standings are ranked by wins, then head-to-head wins among the tied players, then point differential, then point differential in games between the tied players, then point differential against the players just above, then points scored.

Shown with games to 11.

7 players has an exact schedule: everyone plays, no alternates.

Playoff: Top 4, one championship game

The top 4 in the round-robin standings advance; everyone else is out. The organizer pairs them into 2 teams. The default is Seed 1 with Seed 4, Seed 2 with Seed 3; any two players can be swapped before the bracket is locked.

  • Championship: Team 1 (Seeds 1 + 4) vs Team 2 (Seeds 2 + 3)

Only two teams advance, so there are no semifinals: straight to the final. Every playoff game is a single game to 15, win by 2.
